ORBIS AG significantly exceeds sales and earnings expectations in the 2020 financial year

ORBIS AG, the Saarbrücken-based software and business consulting company listed in the General Standard, has today published its 2020 annual report.

ORBIS also generated a very good result in 2020, a year marred by the coronavirus pandemic. Sales increased further, and the acquisition of Data One GmbH and investments in new products further strengthened ORBIS’s service portfolio.

According to the annual report, ORBIS recorded a year-on-year increase in sales (consolidated sales including the acquisition of Data One GmbH) of 18.9% to €85,897 thousand at Group level in the 2020 financial year (previous year: €72,266 thousand). The number of employees rose by 18.3% to 665 as at 12/31/2020 (previous year: 562 employees). The increase is also partly a result of the 100% stake in Data One GmbH, based in Saarbrücken.

The operating profit (EBIT) grew by 19.1% to €4,283 thousand (previous year: €3,595 thousand).

The share of the consolidated result attributable to the shareholders of ORBIS AG amounts to €1,942 thousand after taxes and minority interests, making it slightly lower than in the previous year (€1,972 thousand). This corresponds to a result per share of around 21 cents per share (previous year: 22 cents per share).

The Executive Board and Supervisory Board will therefore propose a dividend payment of 20 cents per share at the 2021 General Meeting.

At €11,792 thousand, the cash flow from operating activities is clearly positive and higher than in the previous year (previous year: €4,143 thousand). Cash and cash equivalents in the Group amounted to €26,063 thousand as at the balance sheet date (previous year: €10,470 thousand). The inflow of cash is also the result of payments received in connection with the capital increase in 2020. The equity ratio as at December 31, 2020, was 49.7%.

ORBIS expects that the coronavirus crisis will continue to have an impact on customers’ business activities in the 2021 financial year and, in particular, on their willingness to start new projects.

Nevertheless, ORBIS is still planning to invest in the 2021 financial year with a moderate increase in the number of new employees, not to mention in training and further education. Further acquisitions to expand the service portfolio are also being considered due to ORBIS AG’s positive financial situation, provided that suitable opportunities arise.

Due to the continuing crisis situation in the economy, ORBIS expects single-digit percentage growth in sales and a positive EBIT margin of between 4% and 5% for the 2021 financial year.
