ORBIS AG sees positive business development in the first six months of 2020
As in previous years, ORBIS AG, the Saarbrücken-based software and business consulting company listed in the General Standard, started the 2020 financial year with a positive order situation and good utilization of its consulting capacities.
ORBIS managed to significantly increase year-on-year sales in the first half of 2020 due to the initial consolidation of the investments in Data One GmbH and Dialog GmbH: Consolidated sales increased by 17.3% year on year to €41,535 thousand (previous year: €35,420 thousand).
At €1,616 thousand (previous year: €1,692 thousand), the operating result (EBIT) in the period under review was down slightly on the previous year. The EBIT margin in relation to sales is therefore 3.9%.
Earnings before taxes (EBT) of €1,502 thousand (previous year: €1,618 thousand) were reported for the first half of 2020.
ORBIS AG generated a consolidated result of €735 thousand (previous year: €833 thousand).
This corresponds to a result of 8.00 cents per share for the first half of 2020.
There was an inflow of cash and cash equivalents from operating activities of €6,523 thousand (previous year: €699 thousand) in the first half of 2020.
The number of employees as at June 30, 2020, also saw a significant 22.5% increase to 660 (previous year: 539), here resulting essentially from the corporate investments.
Due to the continuing general uncertainty in the global economy and the associated impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our business, we do not currently feel that we are in a position to issue a serious forecast for sales and earnings for the 2020 financial year.
Provided that the currently difficult economic environment does not weaken further than forecast due to a decline in demand in the global economy on account of the second wave of the coronavirus in Germany, we nevertheless expect ORBIS AG’s business activities to continue to develop positively in the current financial year.
